CHL Names Week's Best

Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs forward Forbes MacPherson and El Paso Buzzards netminder James Ronayne have been selected as the recipients of the Central Hockey League's Player and Goaltender of the Week for Week 16 of CHL action. MacPherson joins teammates Dan Wildfong (Player of the Week in Week 4) and Ken Carroll (Goaltender of the Week in Week 9) as Mudbug award recipients this season, while Ronayne becomes the second Buzzard honored this year following left winger Russ Guzior's selection as Player of the Week in Week 10.
The Mudbugs are in the midst of an outstanding stretch in which they have posted 8 wins and an overtime loss in their last 9 outings to close to within five points of a playoff berth, and MacPherson has played a key role in the resurgence, scoring 16 points in his last 10 games. MacPherson shares the team lead in both goals (20) and plus/minus (+21). This week, MacPherson was a solid contributor in all four Mudbugs games, scoring three times and adding four assists in four contests.
The El Paso Buzzards acquired goaltender James Ronayne via trade from San Angelo January 6th, and he enjoyed his finest week of the season in leading El Paso to three consecutive victories. On January 31st, Ronayne entered the Buzzards game at New Mexico trailing 3-1 after the first period, and made 18 saves to help El Paso to a 5-4 shootout win. The following night he blanked his former teammates 5-0 in San Angelo to record his first shutout of the season, and then completed his outstanding week by stopping 35 of 36 shots in a 3-1 win at Lubbock.
