Trenton Thunder News Release

Harrisburg, PA- A passed ball in the eighth inning allowed Austin Krum to come across home plate and score what proved to be the deciding run in Trenton's 2-1 victory over the Senators on Saturday night. With the win and New Hampshire losing as well, the Thunder (78-55) move 2.5 games up in the division standings.

In his second Double-A start, LHP Manny Banuelos shut down the Sens through five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits. The lefty also struck out five and walked three, but did not factor into the final decision.

Trenton picked up the first run of the game in the sixth inning off LHP Aaron Thompson, as Austin Krum drove in Justin Christian on an RBI triple into the right-centerfield gap to make it 1-0 in favor of the Thunder. Harrisburg tied it up in the bottom of the seventh with Ofilio Castro scoring on a throwing error to second base by Marcos Vechionacci, and the game was tied at one heading into the eighth inning.

With two outs in the top of the eighth, Krum reached base on a throwing error by LHP Rafael Martin (5-3). He then moved to third base as Austin Romine knocked a single into centerfield to put runners at the corners for Rene Rivera. The first pitch Pena threw to Rivera skipped off the glove of C Devin Ivany, and allowed Krum to score the go-ahead run to put Trenton ahead 2-1.

RHP John Van Benschoten picked up the win in two innings of relief. Josh Schmidt and Ryan Pope retired the last six batters to close out the game as each tossed a scoreless inning.

Trenton tries for the split in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 PM. RHP Dellin Betances gets the ball for Trenton, while Harrisburg goes with LHP Tom Milone. Catch all the action on 107.7 FM The Bronc or online at www.trentonthunder.com
