RHP Santos Arias to DL; RHPs Blevins and Williams En Route to New Britain

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats of the Eastern League announced three additional roster moves today, and all involve right-handed Pitchers.

Details:

RHP Santos Arias, the 23-year-old native of La Romana, Dominican Republic, has been placed on the Disabled List with a tender right elbow. The 5"11"/162-pound hurler made 23 appearances for the 2010 Rock Cats and ends his season at the Double-A classification with a mark of 0-7 with 4 Saves. Signed by Minnesota as a non-drafted Free Agent in February of 2005, Arias threw a total of 37 1/3 innings in New Britain this year;

RHP Steven Blevins, a 23-year-old native of Louisa, KY who was selected by Minnesota out of Marshall University in the 21st Round of the 2008 Draft, has been assigned to New Britain from Ft. Myers in the Florida State League. The 6'2"/215-pound Blevins made 33 appearances for the Single-A Miracle this year, posting a 3-4 W-L record with 3 Saves. He worked a total of 58 innings in Florida; he will toil out of the Rock Cats bullpen upon his arrival tomorrow (Sunday);

RHP Matthew Williams, the 23-year-old native of Camden, Australia, rejoins New Britain today after a stint with the Ft. Myers Miracle in the Florida State League. Earlier this year the bespectacled 6'1"/180-pound hurler spent two months with the Rock Cats, departing in early July for Florida after posting 1-3-3/6.53 numbers in New Britain. He has since made 17 appearances for Single-A Ft. Myers and leaves the Sunshine State with a mark of 3-2 with a 3.88 ERA. Signed by Minnesota as a non-drafted Free Agent in 2005, Williams entered the 2010 Season with a career Minor League record of 16-9 with a 2.78 ERA.
