Thunder game suspended

(Trenton, NJ) - The second game of Saturday night's doubleheader between the Trenton Thunder, the Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees, and New Britain Rock Cats (affiliate of the Minnesota Twins) was suspended in the top of the fifth inning due to rain. The Thunder are leading 2-0.

The game will be completed starting at 1:05 PM on Sunday with Juan Portes at bat for New Britain with two outs and a 0-1 count in the top of the fifth inning. This game will be finished as a seven-inning game. The regularly scheduled game will be played following the completion of the suspended game and will also be seven innings. The Thunder won game one of the doubleheader by a score of 6-5.

Only two home games remain in the 2009 Trenton Thunder season. The game on Sunday (8/30) will feature a fielding glove giveaway for the first 1,000 fans 5-15 thanks to TD Bank. On Monday (8-31) at 7:05 PM the first 2,000 fans ages 6 and over will receive a Chien-Ming Wang Statue thanks to Verizon Wireless. One of the statues will be autographed by Chien-Ming Wang and randomly given away at the gates. Post Game Fireworks have been added to Monday's season finale.
