August 29, 2009 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
Manchester, NH- Tonight's crowd of 8,601at Merchantsauto.com Stadium, a franchise record-tying 17th standing-room-only crowd of the season, allowed the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, the Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays, to set an all-time single-season attendance record of 374,006 with two home dates still remaining. This marks the sixth straight season the Fisher Cats have established a new attendance milestone, as they eclipsed their previous season record of 373,227, set in 2008.
"We are so thankful for the support of the best fans in baseball who made this possible by choosing to spend their time taking part in our brand of Double-A baseball entertainment," said Fisher Cats President Rick Brenner. "It takes a lot of commitment on the part of our front office members, game day staff and, most of all, the guests and partners who visit this beautiful ballpark for this to happen."
SATURDAY'S GAME IS PLAYED AND TICKETS STILL CAN BE EXCHANGED
Fans can exchange tickets for Monday, August 31, or any April 2010 home game
Even though the Fisher Cats played Saturday night's game against the Portland Sea Dogs, the Double-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, the Fisher Cats are thanking their fans by allowing them to exchange their Saturday, August 29, 2009 tickets -either used or unused- to either the regular season home finale against the Sea Dogs on Monday, August 31, at 7:05pm, or any April regular-season home game in the 2010 season.
There are two chances left to see the Fisher Cats at Merchantsauto.com Stadium this season. New Hampshire hosts Portland in a single-admission doubleheader on Sunday, August 30, at 4:05pm. Fans holding tickets to Sunday's twin-bill get admission to both games, and Boston Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka is expected to start the opening game of the doubleheader for the Sea Dogs on a Major League injury rehabilitation assignment. An Atlas Fireworks Show follows game two on Fan Appreciation Night.
The first 2,000 fans on hand for the regular season home finale between the Fisher Cats and Sea Dogs on Monday night, August 31, at 7:05pm will receive a free Ted Williams Bobblehead, courtesy of the Ted Williams Museum. The original, game-worn New Hampshire Primaries uniforms will be auctioned off that night to benefit the Fisher Cats Foundation, which will, in turn, use the proceeds to help defray the costs of ongoing cancer treatment for Jami Gorneault, wife of Fisher Cats outfielder Nick Gorneault, at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
