Thunder Gains Point in OT Loss at Rapid City

Rapid City, SD - Wichita battled back from a two-goal deficit in the third period, but fell in overtime against Rapid City by the final of 4-3 on Saturday night at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center.
With the overtime loss, Wichita gains a point and moves five ahead of Allen for third place in the Mountain Division playoff race.
Ralph Cuddemi recorded his 28th of the year while Kevin Patterson and Travis Brown each had two helpers.
Ian Brady put the Rush on the board late in the first on the power play. He caught a pass in the slot and put it through Nick Riopel to make it 1-0. Just 15 seconds later, Kevin Dufour tied the game with a beautiful move around a defenseman and beat Adam Vay through the five-hole.
In the second, Brayden Sherbinin appeared to fire a shot off the left post. The official immediately called it a goal. He said the puck hit the back-bar and re-gained the lead to 2-1.
Andrew Radjenovic scored 1:51 into the third off a two-on-one break to increase the lead to 3-1. Wichita erased the two-goal advantage in a span of 1:41. Cuddemi scored at 4:59, putting home his own rebound at the right post to make it 3-2. Brayden Low tied it at 6:40 on the power play, tallying his first in a Thunder uniform. The game winded down and for the second time in the last three games, Wichita and Rapid City headed past 60 minutes.
In overtime, Wichita out-chanced the Rush by a two-to-one margin. MacMillan came down on an odd-man break, but couldn't re-direct a pass from Guillaume Lepine. A few minutes later, Dufour got behind Daniel Leavens and tried to juke Vay through the five hole. He was denied on two more shots immediately after he was stopped and play continued. Peter Sivak ended it at 3:52 as he stepped around a man and beat Riopel for the game-winner.
Cuddemi has goals in three-straight games and five points in his last three (3g, 2a). Patterson recorded his first multi-point contest of his career and has three assists in his last two games.
Wichita went 1-for-3 on the power play. Rapid City was 1-for-3 on the man advantage.
The Thunder continues its eight-game road trip on Tuesday night in Kansas City starting at 7:05 p.m.
