MALLARDS NOTES

Last Game

The Toledo Walleye ripped off three second period goals- including what proved to be the game winner from Kyle Bonis with just 21 seconds left in the second- before surviving the host Mallards' third period comeback bid to claim a 3-2 victory Friday night.

The Mallards set a new team record by suffering their seventh straight regulation loss Friday. The Mallards have eclipsed the old club record of six consecutive regulation defeats established between December 31, 2016 and January 13, 2017.

With Friday's defeat the Mallards matched the team record for most regulation losses in one season first set when they went 30-39-5 over 74 Colonial Hockey League games in their inaugural season in 1995-96.

Elimination

The Mallards' streak of five straight playoff appearances was halted Wednesday when a 3-2 loss to Toledo eliminated them from postseason contention. The Mallards last missed out on the postseason when they failed to qualify for the 2012 Central Hockey League playoffs.

You Again

Friday's game was the Mallards' fourth straight against the Walleye. The Mallards were swept in a pair of games last weekend in Toledo- 8-0 Friday and 4-2 Saturday- before returning home for consecutive 3-2 setbacks.

The Mallards have gone 6-24-0 on the road and have tied the team record for most away regulation losses first set when they went 8-24-5 over 37 games on the road in 1995-96 in the Colonial League and matched when they went 7-24-7 over 38 road tilts in 2009-10 in the International Hockey League.

Bumps in the Road

The Mallards have lost their last eight road games. They are one road defeat shy of matching the team record for longest away regulation losing streak set earlier this season when the they dropped nine in a row on the road between December 8 and January 6.

Home Cooking

The Mallards have suffered three straight home regulation losses for the first time this season.

Onslaught

The Mallards have allowed 60 goals over their last 12 games. The Mallards did hold Toledo to three goals in each of their last two games after surrendering no fewer than four in each of their previous ten outings.

Three

The Mallards fell Wednesday and Friday after winning the prior nine times they allowed three goals or fewer.

Fire Power

The Mallards have scored at least four goals in each of their last nine victories.

Big Al

Alex Globke has recorded 15 points (five goals and ten assists) in his last 15 games after producing 14 points (five goals and nine assists) over his first 46 games

First

Quentin Shore, who was acquired in a March 6 trade with the Florida Everblades, scored his first Mallard goal Friday.

49er

Like Shore, Jamie Tardif scored Friday after picking up an assist Wednesday against Toledo.

Helping Hand

Willie Raskob is tied for fifth among ECHL rookies and tied for sixth among defensemen in assists (30).

Between the Pipes

C.J. Motte made 42 saves while suffering the loss Friday against Toledo.

Red Light District

The Mallards are tied for twenty-fifth in the ECHL in goals per game (2.7) with Kansas City and Rapid City. The Mallards remain twenty-seventh in the league in goals allowed per contest (4.2).

Outside the Box

The Mallards are the second least penalized team in the ECHL. They average 9.8 minutes in the box per game.

Special Teams

The Mallards have gone 2-for-4 on the power play over their last two games and have killed off their foes' last seven power plays. The Mallards rank fifteenth in the ECHL on the power play (17.3 percent) and twenty-fifth in penalty killing (77.5 percent).

Head to Head

The Mallards have gone 2-3-0 against Kansas City this season and have gone 2-1-0 at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena. Today's game is the finale of the season series between the clubs. All-time the Mallards have gone 32-33-7 against the Mavericks overall and 18-20-2 in Independence.
