Trenton Thunder News Release
Reading, PA - The Phillies pounded out six runs off Thunder RHP Hector Noesi as Trenton fell 8-4 to Reading on Thursday night from FirstEnergy Stadium. Noesi struggled and was lifted in the fourth inning after Reading put up six runs on six hits in the frame. Trenton (66-46) finishes the season series 7-3 against Reading (55-55) and remains tied for first place in the Eastern Division with New Hampshire.
Trailing 8-0 entering the ninth, Trenton pushed across four runs on four hits to avoid the shutout. Damon Sublett, Dan Brewer and Matt Cusick all had RBI hits to pull to within an 8-4 final. Brewer's RBI double extended his hitting streak to eight games.
John Suomi smacked a bases loaded double to highlight a six-run fourth inning for Reading and for the second consecutive start Hector Noesi was unable to pitch out of the fourth inning. Noesi (6-4) tossed 3 2/3 innings and allowed six runs on seven hits with six strikeouts in the loss.
RHP George Kontos entered with a runner on in the fourth and tossed 2 1/3 innings of relief. Kontos allowed two runs (one earned) on two hits with two strikeouts. Josh Schmidt and Wilkin de la Rosa finished the game with one scoreless inning each.
Ty Taubenheim (4-3) spun eight shutout innings in the Reading win and held Trenton to three hits. Taubenheim walked two and struck out three in just his third start with Reading this season.
