Rock Cats Place OF Ben Revere on Disabled List

August 5, 2010 - Eastern League (EL1)
New Britain Rock Cats News Release

New Britain, CT - The New Britain Rock Cats placed one of their brightest prospects, 22-year-old OF Ben Revere, on the Disabled List today as a result his having been struck on the right side of the face by a pitched ball on Tuesday night at New Britain Stadium. The Richmond, KY resident - the 1st Round Draft choice of the Minnesota Twins in 2007- suffered a fractured orbital bone after being hit in the first inning of the Rock Cats' game August 3rd against visiting Erie.

A 5'9"/170-pound speedster who was both a 2010 Eastern League All-Star and a member of Team USA at the 2010 Futures Game played July 11th in Anaheim, CA, was enjoying an outstanding debut season at the Double-A classification in New Britain. Listed by Baseball America as the #5 Prospect in the entire Minnesota organization, Ben appeared in 86 games for the 2010 Rock Cats and collected 97 Total Hits. His .297 BA placed him among the Eastern League's Top 10 Hitters, and his 31 Stolen Bases placed him 2nd in the circuit.

It is expected that Revere, who never lost consciousness after being struck, will remain with the team and, if possible, return to active status before the season comes a close in September.
