Trenton Thunder News Release

Manchester, NH - The Thunder nearly tied the score late in the game, but could not get out of an early 5-0 hole, and eventually fell 5-4 to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Monday at Merchantsauto.com Stadium. With the loss, Trenton falls to 7-4 on the season.

Thunder RHP Ryan Pope made his third start of the season, and after an easy first inning, the righty fell into big trouble in the bottom of the second. Capped off by a Callix Crabbe 3-run home run, New Hampshire ended up scoring five times in the second inning off Pope. He did not allow a hit after the second inning.

Trenton made New Hampshire RHP Kyle Drabek pay for his inaccuracy, scoring three runs off Drabek in the fourth and fifth innings. Drabek pitched 5 innings and allowed 3 runs on 5 hits and walked 5. After Austin Romine singled home Austin Krum, the Thunder trailed 5-4 at the end of six innings, but managed just one hit through the last three innings, and fell 5-4.

The Thunder and Fisher Cats play the second game of their series tomorrow starting at 6:35 PM. LHP Jeremy Bleich starts for Trenton and RHP Zach Stewart takes the ball for the ‘Cats.
