MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Manchester Monarchs received two points each from Daniel Ciampini and David Kolomatis, but were handed their second defeat of the young season to the Adirondack Thunder, 5-3, Saturday night at SNHU Arena.

The Monarchs (0-1-0-1) dropped their second straight contest to the Thunder (2-0-0-0), and will look to get into the win column Friday night in Reading.

"I think we came out alright despite the score, but we definitely chased (the game) all weekend," said Monarchs Head Coach, Rich Seeley. "I obviously don't like the result, but I was happy to see our guys battle back tonight."

Adirondack opened the scoring when Ty Loney broke the ice at 3:44 of the first period. Ciampini turned the puck over deep in the Monarchs zone to Gunner Hughes who found Loney in the slot, where he beat Monarchs goaltender, Jack Flinn, to give the Thunder a 1-0 lead.

Just over two minutes later, Mikkel Aagaard found the back of the net to extend Adirondack's lead at 6:09 of the first period. Alex Wall blasted a shot from the point that hung in the crease behind Flinn, and Aagaard was waiting on the doorstep to tap in the dribbling puck.

At 18:44 of the first, Loney was able to bang in his second goal of the night. Flynn made a pad save on a two-on-one breakaway, but Aagaard grabbed the rebound and sent a backhand pass to Loney who had a wide-open net to extend the Thunder lead, 3-0.

The Thunder's scoring momentum carried into the second period when an unmarked Lane cleaned up an initial shot from the point from Roman Dyukov, backhanding the fourth goal of the night in for Adirondack.

Daniel Doremus got the Monarchs on the board at 8:57 of the second period with his 1st goal of the season. Three Monarchs raced into the offensive zone when Ciampini found Doremus who beat Thunder goaltender, Mason McDonald, breaking the ice for the home team.

The Monarchs cut the deficit to two at 15:03 of the second period when Damir Sharipzyanov scored his 1st goal of the season. Sharipzyanov found the puck at the point off of a Joe Pendenza shot, walked to the left dot, and fired a wrister over the glove of McDonald, making the score, 4-2.

Ciampini made it a one goal game at 8:07 of the third period when he scored his 2nd goal of the season. Matt Leitner sent the puck up to an unguarded Ciampini in front of McDonald, where the forward found the net, bringing the score to 4-3.

Despite getting chances late in the game, Peter MacArthur sealed the fate of the Monarchs at 19:51 of the final frame with an empty-net-goal from the top of the left faceoff circle.

The Monarchs are back on the ice Friday, Oct. 21 (7 p.m.) when they travel to Reading for the first time this season to take on the Royals.
