
Thunder Announce Release Of Todd Self

Trenton Thunder News Release
(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced that OF Todd Self was given his release by the N.Y. Yankees. His roster spot will be left open for the time being.
Self was signed as a Free Agent by the Yankees on May 15th. Self was 4-for-30 (.133 BA) in 9 G for the Thunder. He started the season with Norfolf (AAA) of the N.Y. Mets organization and was 4-for-37 (.108 BA) in 14 G.
He was originally a 15th Round Draft Pick by Houston in the 2000 June Draft (Univ. of Lousiana-Monroe). Self played six seasons in the Astros' organization, including 21 G for Houston in 2005. He had a.200 BA in 21 G for Houston with 1 HR and 4 RBI. The homer came off Arizona's Russ Ortiz and was his first hit as a Major Leaguer.
The Thunder continue their three-game series in Reading, PA tonight at 7:05 PM. RHP Matt DeSalvo makes his first start of the year for Trenton after being recalled from Columbus (AAA). RHP Zach Segovia (3-1, 3.90) starts for the R-Phils.
