
Thunder Allow Only One Hit in 4-0 Win Over New Hampshire on Thursday

(Manchester, NH)- Five Trenton pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout in Trenton's 5-0 victory over New Hampshire on Thursday afternoon from Merchantsauto.com Stadium. Trenton has now won eight of its last 11 games.
Trenton (50-47) broke a scoreless tie in the fifth inning. With one out, Third baseman Marcos Vechionacci walked against New Hampshire Starting Pitcher Marty McLeary (2-3). Vechionacci advanced to second base on on a walk to Left fielder James Cooper. Catcher Kyle Anson followed with an RBI double to score Vechioancci and give the Thunder a 1-0 lead. Trenton extended the lead to 2-0 as Second baseman Justin Snyder drove home Cooper with an RBI ground out. Later in the frame, Shortstop Reegie Corona delivered an RBI single to cap off the scoring in the frame. The Thunder increased the lead to 4-0 in the seventh inning. Center fielder Austin Krum connected on a two-out RBI triple to plate Anson and make it 4-0. Krum has triples in consecutive games. Corona had two hits in the win for the Thunder.
Trenton Starting Pitcher Jason Stephens tossed three perfect innings. His last start was on June 28th. Thunder Reliever Kanekoa Texeira (8-5) came on for Stephens and tossed three shutout innings to earn the win. Texeira did not allow a hit, and struck out two. He now leads the Thunder in wins with eight. New Hampshire did not pick up a hit until Pinch-hitter Luis Sanchez's single in the seventh inning off of Thunder Reliever Wilkins Arias. The Fisher Cats did not have a hit until the seventh inning on Monday as well. The one-hit shutout was the first for Trenton since a one-hitter against Portland on May 13th. Trenton has won eight of 11 games against the Fisher Cats this season. McLeary went a season-high seven innings for the Fisher Cats, but took the loss. He allowed six hits and four runs.
Trenton continues its road trip in Harrisburg on Friday night. LHP Wilkin De La Rosa (3-5, 4.03) will start for Trenton against Harrisburg RHP Jeff Mandel (0-0, 0.00). Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
