Trenton Thunder News Release

(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, AA-Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that Assistant General Manager Greg Coleman will attempt a feat of baseball endurance on Wednesday, August 30, 2006. Coleman plans to round the bases at Mercer County Waterfront Park, home of the Thunder, 500 times in an effort to raise funds for autism research, education, and advocacy.

Coleman's inspiration for taking on the challenge is his 3-year old son Kevin, who was recently diagnosed with Pervasive Developmental Disorder (PDD-NOS). PDD-NOS is a disorder related to autism which affects the development of social interaction and communication.

The Thunder will accept pledges for each lap around the bases completed by Coleman. Proceeds will benefit the New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC). COSAC is a non-profit agency providing information and advocacy, services, family and professional education and consultation.

"By taking on this challenge, I hope that the Thunder can help generate awareness and raise funds for a great cause," said Coleman. "I really appreciate the support that I've already received from the Thunder's staff and fans." Each trip around the bases is 360 feet, so Coleman will travel over 34 miles to complete the challenge. By comparison, the standard marathon distance is 26 miles 385 yards.

Pledges can be made by contacting the Trenton Thunder at (609) 394-3300 or via fun@trentonthunder.com. Email pledges must contain name, address, phone number and amount pledged per lap.

"The Thunder is excited to support COSAC because they offer so many valuable services to the autism community," added Coleman. "We hope that our involvement will encourage others in the community to donate so that COSAC can continue to reach out to families and expand upon those services."

This baseball marathon nicknamed the "Thunder 500," is one event as part of "Make A Difference Month" at Waterfront Park. Through the end of the 2006 season on September 4, a portion of ticket sales will support autism research, education, and advocacy programs. To purchase tickets in support of this program fans are instructed to go to www.trentonthunder.com and click on the "Make A Difference Month" link for an order form. The form can be mailed, faxed (609-394-9666) or delivered to Waterfront Park. Phone orders are also accepted at 609-394-3300 and fans are asked to mention "Make A Difference" when ordering.
