Salisbury, Md. - The Delmarva Shorebirds (32-26) relinquished a 7-1 lead but recovered to defeat the West Virginia Power (27-29) 10-7 at Appalachian Power Park. The Shorebirds moved to within three games out of first place Hagerstown by virtue of a 3-2 win by the Greensboro Grasshoppers tonight.

Planeta, Rooney and Kelly each had three hits to pace a 15-hit Shorebirds offensive attack. The Shorebirds plated ten runs for the first time since May 8 against Asheville.

Michael Flacco hit a two run homer in the first inning, his second homer in as many nights, to lift the Shorebirds to a 3-0 lead. Manny Machado singled home Ty Kelly to give the 'Birds a 1-0 edge. In the fifth inning, Brenden Webb hit his third long ball of the season over the right-center field to stretch the lead to 5-0.

The 'Birds scored two more runs in the fifth inning to build a 7-1 lead.

Then, the West Virginia Power used three walks, a hit by pitch, an error and a wild pitch to plate six runs over the fifth inning to knot the game at 7-7.

In the seventh inning, the Shorebirds were back on the attack. Michael Ohlman reached on an error by the first baseman Chase Lyles. Then, he advanced to second on a balk. Riley Hornback followed with a sacrifice bunt to move Ohlman to third. Rooney followed with a single down the third baseline to score Ohlman, which gave the Shorebirds an 8-7 edge. Two batters later, Mikey Planeta singled the opposite way into right field to score Rooney. The Shorebirds added an additional run to build a 10-7 lead.

Reliever Ryan Palsha earned the win in 3.2 innings pitched. He allowed just one hit and no runs. D.J. Ferguson picked up his first save of the season in the ninth inning.
