Three-Run Homer Gives Tourists Win over Legends in 11

Roberto Ramos' three-run homer in the top of the eleventh inning gave the Asheville Tourists a 6-3 win over the Lexington Legends Monday night at Whitaker Bank Ballpark.

With two outs in the eleventh, Luis Jean struck out on a ball in the dirt, but reached first when catcher Chad Johnson's throw was low for an error. Drew Weeks singled, and Ramos followed with a drive over the wall in right center field.

The Legends had tied the game at 3-3 on Corey Toups' two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the ninth. Toups' hit followed a leadoff walk to Chase Vallot and a double by Samir Duenez.

Legends starter Emilio Ogando retired the first 14 batters of the game before Ryan Stephens doubled with two outs in the fifth inning. The Legends had taken a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth on a single by Johnson and a two-out double by Duenez.

Asheville broke through against Ogando with a run in the seventh. With one out, Jean walked and Weeks singled. A double steal put runners at second and third, and Jean scored on a single by Josh Fuentes. Weeks tried to steal home, but was thrown out to end the inning, leaving the score at 1-1.

The Tourists took the lead in the eighth. Stephens led off with a double. After Brennan Henry relieved Ogando, Stephens moved to third on a passed ball and scored when Max George's grounder got past third baseman Michael Hill for an error. George stole second, moved to third on a throwing error by Johnson and scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Robbie Perkins. The 3-1 lead held up until Toups' double in the bottom of the ninth.

Josh Michalec (2-2) blew the save but got the win for Asheville. Henry (1-2) was the losing pitcher.

Asheville has won two out of three in the series, which concludes Tuesday. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

Roster changes: Right-handed pitcher Zach Lovvorn and outfielder Elier Hernandez were promoted from Lexington to advanced-A Wilmington (Carolina League). Lovvorn (5-6, 4.20) and Hernandez (.290, 5 HR, 42 RBI) were both mid-season South Atlantic League All-Stars.

Left-hander Eric Stout, Left-hander Brennan Henry and outfielder Alexis Rivera were transferred to Lexington from Idaho Falls (Pioneer League).
