Brockton Rox News Release
WORCESTER, MA-CF Brad Rosenblat hit a three-run HR in a five-run third inning while DH Guye Senjem added a three-run blast of his own in the sixth in a 12-1 Rox blowout of the Worcester Tornadoes before 3,266 at Hanover Insurance Park in Worcester, MA. The twelve runs are a season-best for Brockton. LHP Rolando Viera allowed just one run in six innings on the hill for his seventh win of the season. The Rox scored nine runs in the first four innings before the Tornadoes even had a hit, beating Worcester for the sixth time in eight meetings in 2006. The Rox are now 14-11 in the second half (38-33 overall) while Worcester has lost nine of eleven and fell to 9-15 in the second half (31-37 overall).
After a scoreless first inning, the Rox scored three runs in the second. 3B Zach Strong drove home a run with a single to center, and LF Eugene Julien and Rosenblat also bounced hits that each drove home a run. In the third, the Rox plated five runs to take a commanding 8-0 lead. Strong had another RBI single, and after an error which could have ended the inning, Rosenblat's three-run HR cleared the left field wall and the bases. In the fourth, 1B Francisco Lebron plated another run with a two-out infield single. Lebron has hit safely in 23 of his last 25 games.
Meanwhile, Viera cruised through his first three frames, allowing no hits and just one baserunner. He gave up an RBI single to LF Josh Beauregard in the fourth, but allowed just one run on four hits in his seventh win of the season. Viera has allowed just two runs in his last 20 innings. In the sixth inning, Senjem gave the Rox a 12-1 lead with his 12th HR of the season, a three-run blast. Senjem is second in the league in HR. RHP Edwin Morel, RHP Tom Rispoli, and Strong finished the game on the hill, each with one scoreless inning on the hill.
Tomorrow the Rox send RHP Brad Guy (6-3, 3.14 ERA) to the hill at 7:05 PM to face Worcester RHP Alex Pena (4-1, 3.51 ERA). First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM.
