WORCESTER, MA- Tonight was just one of those nights as the Rox were on a roll as they beat the Tornadoes 12-1 on Friday night in front of a sellout crowd of 3,266 at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field.
Zach Strong marked his return again to Worcester with not only 2RBI but also came on in the ninth to close the game out for the Rox. Previously, he had pitched one inning before in 2004 with San Jose. Strong faced four batters, walking Patrick Perry, as he closed out the game.
Both Guye Senjem and Brad Rosenblat had three-run homers for the Rox. Rosenblat finished the game with four RBI on the night.
DJ Mattox took the loss as he pitched just three innings giving up eight hits, eight runs-five of which were earned-and had one strikeout. Reid Willett came on in relief and pitched three innings giving up four hits, four runs (all earned) and struck out four.
The Tornadoes scored their first run in the fourth when Chris Colabello had the first hit of the game with a single and then scored on an RBI single by Josh Beauregard.
Rox Rolando Viera picked up the win as he pitched 6 innings allowing just four hits, one run (earned) and recorded three strikeouts.
The Tornadoes will take on the Brockton Rox again tomorrow night at 7:05 PM at Hanover Insurance Park at Fitton Field as Alex Pena faces Brad Guy. The first 1,000 fans will receive batting helmets and it's Scout Night courtesy of WTAG.
