Three More Players Added to Roster
January 10, 2013 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
Boise, ID (1/10/13) - Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Brad Ralph announced Thursday afternoon that three players have joined the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads and have been added to the roster in time for Thursday night's game in San Francisco.
Forward Ian Watters, defenseman William Lacasse and defenseman Taylor Vichorek are all expected to be in the lineup Thursday night.
Watters, 21, was a teammate in the Ontario Hockey League of Steelheads forward Sam Carrick. He served as the alternate captain of the Brampton Battallion, netting 16 goals in 34 games after losing over half the season to an arm injury. He had 36 goals over 102 games in his final two seasons in Brampton while playing at one of the highest levels of major-junior hockey in North America.
Lacasse (luh-KASS), 25, joins Idaho after spending most of the season with Augusta of the Southern Professional Hockey League - the team that Ralph coached last season. The first-year pro had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 23 games with the RiverHawks before being called up to Idaho. He has skated in a pair of ECHL games, one for Reading and one for Greenville, prior to joining the Steelheads.
Vichorek (vih-CHORE-ek), 24, is believed to be the tallest player ever to suit up for the Steelheads, standing at 6-foot-8. He played 71 games in the ECHL from 2010-2012 for the Trenton Titans, accumulating 15 points and 122 penalty minutes. He has played both forward and defense during his career, bringing lineup flexibility along with size to the Steelheads' lineup.
The Steelheads (22-7-5) are in action on the road this week at San Francisco (Thursday) and Bakersfield (Friday, Saturday) before returning home next weekend to host the Alaska Aces on January 18 and 19.
Idaho returns home on Friday, January 4, to host the Bakersfield Condors. Group nights are a great way to get family, friends, co-workers, and colleagues together at CenturyLink Arena at a discounted price. Groups can also include a Double-R Ranch hot dog, Tim's Cascade chips, and a small Pepsi.
