Williamsport Crosscutters News Release
Batavia N.Y. - Logan O'Hoppe continued his torrid hitting pace with a pair of doubles in leading the Crosscutters to their third straight victory in a 5-3 triumph at the first-place Batavia Muckdogs on Friday night. It is the first three-game win streak of the season for Williamsport (13-27) while it is also the first three-game losing streak of the season for the Miami Marlins affiliation in Batavia (24-17)
The 19-year-old O'Hoppe extended his hitting streak to nine games while accounting for 80% of his team's runs. He drove in a pair on his double to deep center in the sixth and then scored a run to cap the rally. And then he scored a valuable insurance run in the ninth shortly after belting his second two-bagger of the game.
Herbert Iser also went 2-for-4 with an RBI double and a run scored.
Batavia stranded 12 base-runners. The Muckdogs collected seven hits while Williamsport pitching yielded 10 total free passes on six walks and four hit batters.
Newcomer Chris Micheles from the University of Washington thrived in his Crosscutters debut with a three-inning save.
Williamsport is beginning a six-game road trip that takes them to Batavia for three followed by a three-game stretch at the Connecticut Tigers.
