Three first period powerplay goals pace Columbia in a 6-4 win

COLUMBIA, SC – After dropping a 6-3 decision to the Inferno on Friday, the Greenville Grrrowl ended a 4-game road trip in Columbia on Saturday with a 6-4 loss to the Inferno in front of 4,016 at the Carolina Coliseum.

The Inferno went 3-for-3 on the powerplay in the first period, and brought a 4-2 lead into period two. But the Grrrowl pulled within one at 4-3 when RICO FATICCI scored his first professional goal at 3:48 of the second period, and TYLER DEIS tied the game, 4-4, with an unassisted goal at 14:23. Chris St. Croix buried a shot off his own rebound to score what proved to be the game-winng goal, and Barrie Moore added an insurance goal in the third period as Columbia beat Greenville, 6-4. Grrrowl goaltender DAN McINTYRE made his East Coast Hockey League debut stopping 35 shots as Greenville was outshot 44-31.

Since New Year's Eve, Greenville has played 11 of their last 14 games on the road and went 4-9-1 in that stretch.

Earlier in the day, JUDD MEDAK was re-called by the American Hockey League's Chicago Wolves.
