
Kingfish fall to Ice Pilots, 5-2

Pensacola used two power play goals and a shorthanded goal as well as 38 saves from Maxime Gingras to put the Kingfish away, 5-2.
Pensacola jumped out to a 1-0 lead at the 6:34 mark of the opening stanza as Matt Poapst took a centering pass from Jamie Herrington and flipped the puck past Jeff Blair. Scott Hewson also picked up an assist on the goal.
Tom Kaiman tied the contest up at one as he fired a slap-shot from the point past Maxime Gingras at the 12 minute mark of the period. The Kingfish cycled the puck deep in the Pensacola zone to set up the goal as Mike Kiesman and Garnet Jacobson picked up the assists.
Chris Minard regained the one goal lead for the Ice Pilots as Pensacola took advantage of a Kingfish change. Minard poked the centering pass from Kevin Cloutier past Blair at the 14:10 mark of the period.
Pensacola exploded for three goals in the second period to take a 5-1 lead after the middle stanza.
Gregor Baumgartner gave the Ice Pilots the 3-1 lead at the 3:06 mark of the period as he beat Blair on a break away for the unassisted goal.
Three minutes later, Brad Dexted slipped a slap shot from the point past Blair to extend Pensacola's lead to three. Herrington and Louis Dumont added the assists on the power play goal.
Kevin Cloutier gave the Ice Pilots the 5-1 lead as he intercepted a Kingfish pass and came in on a break away and slipped the puck past Blair. Cloutier tallied the unassisted, shorthanded goal at the 11:17 mark of the second period.
Bryan Richadson cut the Pensacola lead to three as the slipped a lose puck past Gingras at the 16:40 mark of the third period. The Kingfish again created offense in the Pensacola zone and cycled the puck to set up the tally. Jerry Gernander and Trevor Demmans added the assists on the goal.
The Kingfish could get no closer as they were held off the board on the power play for the eighth straight game. Jeff Blair made 39 saves in the losing effort for the Kingfish.
