Jackals Sign Veteran Forward Plamondon

February 1, 2003 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals have signed veteran forward Justin Plamondon after acquiring his rights from the Missouri River Otters on Friday.

The 5-11, 180 lb. left wing will step into the lineup tonight against Quad City for the Jackals. Hailing from Quebec City, PQ, Plamondon's rights were acquired from Missouri for what was formerly Missouri's fifth round draft pick in the upcoming UHL Amateur Draft. Elmira acquired that pick earlier in the season for the rights to defenseman Ben White.

Plamondon played eight games for Binghamton of the American Hockey League this year, and also appeared in 12 contests for Richmond of the East Coast Hockey League. With Binghamton he totaled no points and 11 PIMs, while with Richmond he amassed 3-4-7, with 4 PIMs.

"I worked very hard this season on my conditioning," Plamondon said. "It's really seemed to pay off this year. I knew it might be my last shot at making the AHL. They (Binghamton) were impressed with how I came into camp, and how I performed. Elmira's a good fit for me, being just down the road."

Plamondon will appear in uniform for the Jackals tonight as they take on the Quad City Mallards at the Coach USA Center, game time is 7 pm. There are still seats remaining for tonight's contest through the Coach USA Center Box Office. Rockford then comes to town on Saturday night, and Sunday will see a return match with the Mallards. All Jackals game action can be heard live on your Home for Jackals Hockey, WiNGZ 104.9!
