Bakersfield Condors News Release

Bakersfield, Calif. - Three different players scored twice and the Condors put up a season-high 56 shots as the Bakersfield Condors routed the Anchorage Aces 7-1 in front of 5,323 fans at Centennial Garden on Friday night. The Condors are now 12-1-3 in their last 16 home games.

The scoring started early, as Jamie Cooke connected on a power play just 1:40 into the game. Cooke added his second of the night less than two minutes later, on a breakaway tally for his 18th of the season. The veteran winger broke up a play at the Condors blueline, slipped by him and charged in all alone on Anchorage netminder Christian Soucy. Nate Anderson added a breakaway goal later in the first for his seventh of the season, which made the score 3-0 after 20 minutes.

Bakersfield added three more in the second frame, starting with two goals from Jason Ralph before the halfway point of the game. Ralph netted his 18th of the season on the power play at 6:45, and then fired home his 19th of the year while shorthanded at 9:18. It was his fourth shorthanded goal of the season, tying him for the league lead with Cooke, and reclaimed the Condors lead in overall goal-scoring for the season. Later in the period, Christian Skoryna scored on the power play to make it 6-0, when Jeff Goldie kicked the puck to him and he slapped it home from the right face off dot. Anchorage got on the board 29 seconds later, when Yvan Corbin snapped a shot under goaltender Kevin St. Pierre from the right circle. It was the only shot to get past St. Pierre on the night.

Bakersfield didn't sit back in the third period, pounding Soucy with 22 more shots for a season-high 56 total in the game. Skoryna added his second of the night less than four minutes in, coming in with Shawn Byram on a 2-on-2 during a penalty kill, and threading the needle on a shot low to the stick side of Soucy for the final tally of the game. The Condors matched their season high with seven goals in the contest.

The Condors kept pace with San Diego in a tie for second place. The Gulls upended the Idaho Steelheads, 3-2 in a shootout in Idaho. In other action, Bakersfield extended their lead over the Falcons in the standings, as Long Beach came up with a 4-1 win in Fresno.
