Augusta Lynx News Release

AUGUSTA, GA— The Augusta Lynx announced today that they have acquired wingers Chris Thompson and Andrew Ianiero from the Dayton Bombers in exchange for wingers Patrick Yetman and Lance Galbraith. The 6'1", 200 lb. Thompson returns to Augusta after having played 139 games with the Lynx during the 98-99, 99-00, and 2000-01 seasons. He was currently leading the Bombers in scoring with 15 goals, a team leading 28 assists, and a total 43 points to go along with a team leading 215 penalty minutes. The Lynx also acquired ECHL Rookie All-Star Andrew Ianiero from Dayton. The 22-year-old Ianiero was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in the fifth round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft with the 154th overall pick. The 6'0", 200 lb. Hamilton, Ontario native has recorded 24 points on 11 goals and 13 assists in 44 games. He was selected to the Northern Conference ECHL All-Star team and tallied a goal in the game. Prior to playing in Dayton, Ianiero spent four years in the OHL with the Kingston Frontenacs where he scored over 20 goals per season.

"We are sorry to have to lose Patrick and Lance, but we are ecstatic to be getting Chris Thompson in return, along with a young all-star in Ianiero. It 's a move to help us generate more offensive punch, something we have been lacking all year long." Said Lynx Head Coach David Wilkie.

In a separate deal, the Lynx have acquired defenseman Philippe Roy from the Johnstown Chiefs for future considerations. The St. Leonard, Quebec native was currently the top scoring defenseman on the Chiefs roster having compiled 30 points in 56 games on 11 goals and 19 assists, including 7 power play goals. "He's an offensive defenseman who should help our scoring on the backend", said Assistant Coach John Whitwell, "Philippe is also a third year pro who will add experience and depth to our defense.

All three players are expected to be in the line up this weekend as the Lynx host the Pee Dee Pride on Friday night and the South Carolina Stingrays on Saturday night. Both games are scheduled to get underway at 7:35 PM at the Augusta-Richmond County Civic Center. For ticket information contact the Lynx Ticket Department at 706-724-4423 or order through Ticketmaster at 828-7700.
