Knoxville Smokies News Release
SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Tennessee Smokies second baseman Tony Thomas was selected to next Monday's Southern League All-Star Game in Birmingham, Ala., as announced today by The Southern League. Thomas will replace the Carolina Mudcats' Juan Francisco (injury) on the North Division team as a reserve.
Thomas is certainly worthy of All-Star consideration. In his first season in Double-A, he currently leads the Smokies in hits (75), runs (44) and home runs (8). The Chicago Cubs selected Thomas in the third round of the 2007 First-Year Player Draft.
