Papelbon Promoted to Triple-A Iowa

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce a roster move today. RHP Jeremy Papelbon has been promoted to Triple-A Iowa, effective yesterday. At this time no corresponding roster move has been made.

Since joining Tennessee at the start of the 2009 season, Papelbon has gone 2-4 with a 3.54 ERA in six starts. He's allowed 22 runs (19 earned) on 67 hits in 48.1 innings of work, striking out 37 and walking 15. The Baton Rouge, La., native spent the entire 2008 season with the Daytona Cubs (High-A), and was a 19th-round draft pick by the Chicago Cubs in the 2006 First-Year Player Draft Pick.
