Jaxx Sweep Stars and Win Sixth Straight Game Tuesday

HUNTSVILLE, ALA. (July 8, 2009) - The Diamond Jaxx (11-5) continue their winning ways sweeping the Huntsville Stars on Tuesday night of the four game series with a 6 to 1 victory over Huntsville (7-9). The Jaxx win their sixth consecutive game and now have a three game lead in the Southern League North Division. Marshall Hubbard and Matt Mangini had triples in the game and each tallied two RBI in the game. The Jaxx sweep of Huntsville marks the first Jaxx sweep of the season.

Mike Wilson got the Jaxx on the board first with a solo blast to left in the top of the second inning. Wilson has three homers in 12 games played with the Jaxx. Wilson had eight hits in the series with Huntsville.

The runs kept coming for the Jaxx in the fourth. David Espinosa plated Marshall Hubbard as he grounded into a fielders choice. The next hitter, Matt Mangini doubled in two giving the Jaxx a 4 to 1 advantage.

The Jaxx posted another run in the fifth. Marshall Hubbard hoofed out his first triple of the season scoring Greg Halman from first base. The Jaxx jumped ahead 5 to 1 after the fifth.

Marshall Hubbard brought in Jimmy Mojica in the top of the seventh with a sacrifice fly to left. Huntsville starter, Mark Holliman (7-3) left the game in the seventh inning. The Germantown, TN native game up six runs in six inning of duty. Holliman took his first loss in four starts against the Jaxx this season.

Steve Bray (2-4) finally gets his second win of the season. Bray was winless since May 28th. In his last seven starts, he has had six no decisions and a loss, but posted a 2.20 ERA. In this game, Bray gives up just one run while scattering three hits. He struck out two and walked one in the outing.

The Jaxx open a series on Wednesday night at Pringles Park against the Mobile BayBears. Jaxx RHP Kyle Parker (4-4, 3.83) makes his team leading 17th start of the season for the Jaxx. RHP Cody Evans (3-9, 5.54)
