Ottawa Lynx News Release

OTTAWA - For Skratch's birthday, it's better to give than to receive.

The Ottawa Lynx and The Salvation Army are teaming up for a toy drive at that will run from June 14th to 30th, just in time for the loveable mascot's birthday party!

Skratch is asking for everyone coming to Lynx Stadium to bring new unwrapped toys and books to be donated to the Salvation Army. Fans can start bringing toys to Lynx games starting June 14th, when the Lynx take on the Columbus Clippers, culminating with the Lynx June 30th game against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

The Lynx are collecting toys for children in need between the ages of 0-12. The toys will be distributed by The Salvation Army to children in need across Ottawa over the Christmas season.

This is not the only charitable effort going on at Lynx Stadium this weekend. Sunday is the Lynx Food Drive, benefiting the Overbrook-Forbes Emergency Food Program.

The Emergency Food Program needs snacks, peanut butter, tomato sauce, canned fruit, canned vegetables, cereal and juice, in addition to clean grocery bags and egg cartons. On this Father's Day, we can help provide much-needed supplies to people in need right here in our own community.

This is the first season the Lynx are the Triple-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. The Lynx Box Office is Open Monday to Friday from 10 am to 6 pm and Saturdays 10 am to 4 pm. Ticket information can be found at www.ottawalynx.com or by calling 613 747-LYNX (5969).
