Third Period Comeback Gives Rocket 5-4 Overtime Victory

Laval Rocket News Release
SYRACUSE - The Laval Rocket fought back against the strong Syracuse Crunch special teams to come from behind and defeat the divisional rival 5-4 at Onondaga County War Memorial Arena Saturday night.
Zach Fucale and Eddie Pasquale each came up with a big save in the first three minutes of the game, giving the impression that they would be difficult to beat. However, by period's end, three pucks had found their way behind the two netminders. Chris Terry opened the scoring for the Rocket at the 4:28 mark of the period with his 23rd of the season, but less than a minute later Gabriel Dumont scored a shorthanded goal from the slot to even things up for the Crunch. Syracuse's goal tilted the momentum in their favor, and they were able to capitalize four minutes later with another goal to take the lead.
Syracuse added to their lead early in the second period with a power play goal when Dennis Yan picked up a loose puck in the slot and sent it behind Fucale. Three consecutive penalties against the Crunch gave Laval a chance to make it a one goal game, and Jordan Boucher did just that by backhanding the puck underneath Pasquale's arm. Though Laval profited from a lack of discipline by their opponents, Syracuse got the better of them on the power play again and added another goal at the end of the period.
Twelve seconds into the third period Antoine Waked netted his 5th of the year for the Rocket which gave Laval more than 19 minutes to tie the game, and with a little less than five minutes remaining in the period, Kerby Rychel scored his second goal in as many nights to send the game to overtime. With 32 seconds left in extra frame, Jérémy Grégoire finalized the comeback victory for Laval with his 9th of the season.
