San Jose Barracuda News Release
SAN JOSE, CA - The San Jose Barracuda (24-22-3-3) earned their second consecutive win on Sunday at SAP Center, downing the Ontario Reign (27-19-4-2) in a 2-1 shootout victory.
The Reign opened up the scoring at the 12:45 mark with a five-hole goal from an uncovered Andrew Crescenzi (11), coming just after San Jose killed the lone power play opportunity in the period. Barracuda netminder Antoine Bibeau fought off a late Ontario scoring attempt and the Reign carried their 1-0 lead into the second.
The Barracuda had a number of chances to even the score throughout the middle frame and ultimately found the equalizing goal with just 1:22 remaining when Radim Simek fired an unassisted slapshot from deep to make it 1-1.
Both teams held strong defensively in both the third period of regulation and in the overtime period, forcing the shootout, in which San Jose's Michael Brodzinski scored the only goal to give the 'Cuda the 2-1 win.
Barracuda netminder Antoine Bibeau (16-11-5) earned the victory by making 38 saves on 39 shots. Ontario's Petersen (16-9-1) suffered the loss, allowing one goal on 29 shots.
The Barracuda will take on the Cleveland Monsters at SAP Center Friday night at 7 p.m. in the first of a two-game series at home. Listen live on AM 1220 KDOW or on the all-new Sharks + SAP Center App.
