March 4, 2018 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Monsters News Release
CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, defeated the Tucson Roadrunners in overtime on Sunday in front of 11,538 fans at The Q by a final score of 3-2. With the victory, the Monsters improved to 19-29-4-3 overall this season and with a .409 points percentage, remain alone in seventh place in the AHL's Central Division standings.
Tucson grabbed a 1-0 lead on Sunday when P.C. Labrie buried a five-on-five chance at 11:55 of the opening period. In the second, Zac Dalpe tied the game for the Monsters with an even-strength finish at 4:36 thanks to Jacob Graves' lone assist. Then, Roadrunners sniper Dylan Strome pushed Tucson back in front at 6:25 of the middle period with a power-play goal that led to a Monsters equalizer at 17:56 of the frame, courtesy of an extra-man deflection from Sam Vigneault, with Justin Scott and Cameron Gaunce notching helpers on the play.
After a scoreless third period, Dalpe hoisted the Monsters to a 3-2 victory in a three-on-three overtime period with a game-winning power-play strike at 2:17 of the extra session, provided via Alex Broadhurst's and Nathan Gerbe's slick setup. Cleveland goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 21 of the 23 shots he faced on Sunday to improve to 2-3-1 between the pipes this season and claim the 100th victory of his AHL career. On the other side, Tucson's Adin Hill stopped 31 of the 34 pucks he faced to fall to 14-10-3 in net this year.
