The Lexington Legends took the field wearing pink and gave the jerseys off their backs to help support the fight against breast cancer. As part of its "Think Pink" night, the team raised $3,940 from its Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Silent Auction during the game.

Lexington fans bid on the each player's jersey during the contest and the winners received not only the uniform but also a signature and photograph with the jersey's owner.

Earlier that day, the Legends contributed pink bases to the fourth annual Brunch for Breast Cancer Survivors, sponsored by Appliance Distributors Inc.

"We do a lot of crazy and goofy things at the ballpark," Legends General Manager Andy Shea said, "but when we're able to provide events such as our ‘Think Pink' event it is truly special and truly rewarding."

Every year, the Susan G. Komen for the Cure foundation works as the largest grassroots organization of breast cancer survivors to save lives and energize science to find a cure. Thanks to events like the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, they have invested more than $1 billion, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

"Giving back to the community has been an area of strength for the Lexington Legends since are first year of existence," President Alan Stein said. "Our event to raise money for the Susan G. Komen foundation epitomizes our continued effort to use our resources to help those worthy causes which help our community."
