
Thiessen Named CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month

CLEVELAND - In advance of a mid-week home clash vs. the Milwaukee Admirals at Quicken Loans Arena, Lake Erie Monsters goaltender Brad Thiessen was named the CCM/AHL Goaltender of the Month for February, the American Hockey League announced Tuesday.
A 6'0", 181 lb. 29 year-old native of Aldergrove, BC, Thiessen posted a 6-1-2 record in nine February appearances with two shutouts, a 1.75 goals-against average (GAA) and a .932 save percentage (S%). In 19 total appearances for Lake Erie this season, Thiessen is 10-3-4 with a team-leading three shutouts, a 1.85 GAA and a .932 S%.
A former Hobey Baker Award Finalist during his collegiate career at Northeastern University, Thiessen, the 2010-11 Aldege "Baz" Bastien Award winner as the AHL's top goaltender, is a combined 116-74-19 with 23 shutouts, a 2.48 GAA and a .910 S% in 220 career AHL appearances spanning parts of seven seasons from 2009 to 2016 for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Norfolk Admirals, Adirondack Flames and Lake Erie.
In five career NHL appearances for the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011-12, the undrafted Thiessen posted a 3-1-0 record and in 15 appearances this year with the ECHL's Cincinnati Cyclones, Thiessen is 8-3-1 with one shutout, a 1.86 GAA and a .935 S%.
