March 1, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Cleveland Monsters News Release
CLEVELAND - In the seventh of eight games between the two teams this year, Cleveland's Lake Erie Monsters defeated the Milwaukee Admirals on Tuesday at The Q by a final score of 2-0. With the win, the Monsters' fourth consecutive victory, Lake Erie improved to 31-17-5-4 overall this season and with a .623 points percentage, currently occupy third place alone in the AHL's Central Division standings.
After the first period and most of the middle frame slid by scoreless, Sonny Milano shelved an Alex Broadhurst transition feed at even-strength to claim a 1-0 Lake Erie lead with only 22.7 seconds to go in the second. The third period's lone goal also went the Monsters' way in the game's final minute, as Daniel Zaar poked home his team-leading 16th marker of the season to deliver his team a 2-0 win.
Lake Erie goaltender Anton Forsberg recorded his first shutout of the season and improved to 16-8-3 overall this year thanks to a 36-save performance while Marek Mazanec took the loss in net for Milwaukee despite making 26 saves on 28 shots faced.
Next up for the Monsters, it's a Thursday rematch vs. the Admirals with full coverage, live from The Q, underway at 7:00 pm on ESPN 850 WKNR and the Monsters Hockey Network.
