Bloomington PrairieThunder News Release
It's another busy holiday week for the Bloomington PrairieThunder as the team will ring in 2011 with three home games at U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Thursday and Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Following Monday night's disappointing 4-0 shutout in the Quad Cities, the PrairieThunder's record stands at 15-9-1; good for 31 points in the CHL's Turner (Northern) Conference. Bloomington is in fourth place in the Conference, four points behind first place Missouri. Bloomington still has two games in hand on the Mavericks who they have beaten twice this season.
During Christmas Week, the PrairieThunder went 2-2. In addition to the loss at Quad City on Monday (12/27), the PThunder split a pair of games with the Mississippi based RiverKings, losing 4-1 last Tuesday (12/21) in Southaven, Mississippi, and winning 3-1 in Bloomington on Wednesday (12/22). And after the Christmas Break, Bloomington rallied to defeat the Evansville IceMen 2-1 in a shootout on Sunday afternoon (12/26). Bloomington is now a perfect 3-0 in shootouts this season.
After this weekend, Bloomington will have played nine home games between December 10thand January 2nd.

The fifth meeting of the year against the Gems. Dayton leads the season series 3-1 following their 4-0 victory in Bloomington back on December 17th. In that game, Gems twine-tender Jeff Jakaitis stopped all 44 shots he faced for the shutout and Brett Lutes scored a hat trick for Dayton. In four games against the Gems, Bloomington's Travis Granbois has four points (2 goals & 2 assists). In three games against the PrairieThunder, Dayton's Brett Lutes has four goals. Dayton starts the week two points behind Bloomington with a record of 14-11-1.

It's game #4 in the season series with Evansville. Bloomington has won the first three matches, including last Sunday's 2-1 shootout victory in Bloomington. In the three PrairieThunder victories, one was in regulation by a 4-2 margin, the second was a 3-2 overtime win, and the third was the shootout victory. Against Evansville, Jason Dale leads Bloomington in scoring with
2 goals and 2 assists in three games while Nicklas Lindberg leads all IceMen vs. the PrairieThunder with three points (1 goal & 2 assists). Evansville is currently in eighth place in the Turner Conference with a record of 10-14-4, seven points behind Bloomington.

The Mallards and PrairieThunder have already played five games this season and Quad City leads the series 3-2. Monday night, the Mallards defeated Bloomington 4-0 as goaltender David Brown stopped all 36 shots he faced. Quad City has a record of 14-13-0 good for 28 points in the Turner Conference. Against the Mallards this season, defenseman Alan Mazur has five assists in five games while John Snowden has four goals. Obi Aduba leads all Mallards against the PrairieThunder with six points (2 goals & 4 assists) in five games.

Head Coach Jason Christie placed forward Jason Deleurme on injured reserve on Monday (retroactive to December 22nd) with an upper body injury.....Defenseman David Brown, on injured reserve since December 18th, may be activated sometime this coming week.....Rookie forward Brodie Sheahan scored his first professional goal last Sunday vs. Evansville. Sheahan also scored a goal in the shootout.....Jason Dale still leads the team in scoring with 21 points (8 goals & 13 assists).....John Snowden leads in goals scored (9) while Bill Bagron leads in assists (14).....Brett Holmberg leads in plus / minus with a +9 rating.....Six of John Snowden's nine goals are game winning goals.....Goaltender Marco Emond is 12-6-0 on the season with 1 shutout, a 2.59 goals against average and a 90.6% save percentage.....Backup netminder Brad Phillips is 3-3-1 with a 2.16 goals against average and a 91.9% save percentage. In Phillips' four losses, Bloomington has only scored six goals in front of him.
