The Aftermath: Storm Drops 4-2 Decision to Gamblers

KEARNEY, NE - The Tri-City Storm dropped a 4-2 decision to the Green Bay Gamblers Saturday night at the Viaero Center. Artemi Nizameyev and Alexander Bales each netted a goal in the Storm's loss. Tri-City will return to action on Friday in the organization's annual Teddy Bear Toss Game presented by Slumberland Furniture against the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop for Friday's rivalry game between the Storm and the Lancers is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.

Artemi Nizameyev netted his sixth goal of the season at 7:52 of Saturday's opening period to give the Storm a one-goal advantage in the matchup. The goal was netted on the powerplay, and was assisted by A.J. Lacroix. Ryan Humphrey scored his first goal of the year at 8:30 of the middle period to bring the game to a 1-1 score. The Storm outshot the Gamblers 13-8 during the 1st period, and Saturday's 2nd period began in a 1-1 tie.

The lone goal of the middle period was netted at 13:47 of the period by Ben Poitras. Poitras' scoring play was his fifth of the season, and was assisted by Mikey DeAngelo and Lukas Peterson. The Gamblers outshot the Storm 11-8 during Saturday's 2nd period. Green Bay led by a single goal entering the 3rd period.

Jayson Shaugabay scored a powerplay goal just over two minutes into Saturday's final period to give the Gamblers a two-goal lead in the matchup. Julian Lutz and Blake Bechen each recorded an assist on the scoring play. Alexander Bales provided a quick answer for the Storm less than a minute later with a powerplay goal to bring Tri-City within one goal of Green Bay's lead. The goal was Bales' second of the season, and was assisted by Owen Beckner and Trevor Connelly. The final goal of Saturday's game was scored into an empty net by William Hughes with less than a minute to play to seal the Gamblers' road victory. Tri-City outshot Green Bay 11-8 in the 3rd period, and 32-27 overall in the battle. The Storm fell to 11-8-1-1 on the 2023-2024 regular season in the loss.

Cameron Korpi dropped the game in net for Tri-City after making 23 saves on 26 shots during the matchup. Adam Gajan collected the win in goal for Green Bay after turning away 30 of Tri-City's 32 shots on net.

The Storm hits the ice again on Friday, December 8th, in a home game against the Omaha Lancers. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:05pm CT.
