Lancers Fall to the U18s

OMAHA, NE. - The Omaha Lancers concluded its weekend series with the U-18s at Liberty First Credit Union Arena Saturday night (12/2). The Lancers would look to bounce back from a distorted 6-2 loss to the very same U-18 club Friday night (12/1).
The first period would start slow for Omaha with the U-18s scoring early on a power-play. It would be forward Max Plante who would take advantage of that power-play to help give the U-18s a 1-0 lead.
The Lancers would get a power-play of their own however, a whiffed shot on that power-play would cause a Lancer turnover before forward Brodie Ziemer would break-out the other way; shooting it past Lancer netminder Mikhail Yegorov to extend the U-18s lead at 2-0.
However, the game would even back out at 5-on-5 hockey. Like most of the weekend against the U-18s, the Lancers would begin to take over at even strength.
Lancers forward Drew DellaSalla would takeaway a pass in the neutral zone before shooting it 5-hole on U-18 goalie Nick Kempf to cut the deficit in half at 2-1 going into the second period of play.
The second period would begin with the U-18s coming out fast once again.
Eventually, the U-18s would score off the stick of Charlie Pardue. After a Lancer turnover in the neutral zone, the U-18s would breakout the other way before Pardue would send a perfect shot far-side past Yegorov to put the U-18s back in front by two.
Shortly thereafter, U-18 forward Lucas Van Vliet would score off another Lancer turnover, and the U-18s would stretch its lead at 4-1 heading into the third period of play.
The Lancers would play a solid third period of play throughout until the officials would start to call 'soft' penalties on Omaha late that would lead to a cheap U-18s goal with just 3 seconds left in the game to give USNTDP a 5-1 win.
The Lancers will be back in action Friday Night (12/8), as they will be back on the road to take on the Tri-City Storm for the first time this season. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM CST. You can catch the game on Mixlr or FloSports.
