Storm Set for Saturday Night Showdown against Gamblers

KEARNEY, NE. - The Tri-City Storm is set for tonight's showdown at the Viaero Center against the Green Bay Gamblers following last night's eight-round shootout loss. The Storm will wear Military Appreciation Jerseys for tonight's game that will be auctioned off following the matchup. Proceeds from tonight's postgame jersey auction will benefit the Nebraska Warriors. The mission of the Nebraska Warriors is to support the health and well-being of veterans in our local communities. Tri-City (11-7-1-1) competed in a shootout for the first time this season in last night's game following sixty-five minutes of play. Trevor Connelly (2), Seth Constance, and Cam Briere scored the Storm's goals in last night's 5-4 shootout loss on home ice at the Viaero Center. Tri-City outshot the Gamblers 31-24 and fell to 6-3-0-1 when outshooting their opponents this season. The Storm is now 9-1-0-1 when leading after the 1st period, and 9-3-0-1 when scoring the first goal of the game following last night's result. Scoring leaders for Tri-City entering tonight's 21st game of the 2023-2024 regular season include August Falloon (11), Trevor Connelly (8), Ryan Smith (8), and Cam Briere (7). The Storm will return to action next weekend with a single game against the Omaha Lancers on Friday night at the Viaero Center. The game will serve as the organization's annual Teddy Bear Toss game presented by Slumberland Furniture.

Green Bay (14-6-1-0) enters tonight's game two points behind the Dubuque Fighting Saints for 1st place in the USHL's Eastern Conference standings following last night's 5-4 shootout victory on the road against the Storm. Julian Lutz, Brady O'Malley, William Hughes, and Mikey DeAngelo scored goals for Green Bay during regulation time in last night's game. Lev Katzin netted the only goal of the eight-round shootout to seal the victory for the Gamblers. Green Bay leads the USHL with 21 points collected in road games this season. The Gamblers have recorded at least one point in the standings in each of the team's last nine away games. Green Bay improved to 3-4-0-0 when trailing after the 1st period, and 12-0-0-0 when leading after the 2nd period in last night's game. The Gamblers have not won back-to-back games in Kearney since posting a two-game sweep of the Storm at the Viaero Center on October 6th and October 7th, 2016. Green Bay will return to action next weekend with a two-game series against the Chicago Steel.
