
Texas Two Step Begins Tonight in Mesquite

MESQUITE, TX. - The Tacoma Stars (2-5) are in Texas this weekend to wrap up their six-game road stretch. It begins Saturday night with their first meeting with the first-year Mesquite Outlaws (2-3). This will be the second game in two days for the Outlaws as they host the Dallas Sidekicks Friday. The Stars conclude their weekend in Dallas on Sunday.
For the expansion Outlaws, they are led by indoor soccer legend Tatu behind the bench and veteran Jamie Lovegrove (3G-4A) on the pitch. In goal for the Mesquite is Eduardo Cortes, who is in the MASL's top five in goals against average (4.06) and save percentage (.770). Leading the Outlaws roster in goals scored is VcMor Eligwe (5G-0A) and Josemaria Oteze (2G-2A), Anthony Powell (2G-2A), and Mitchell Cardenas (2G-2A) all have four points for Mesquite.
Topping the Stars and MASL in scoring is Nick Perera (9G-8A). His eight assists are good for second in the league in that category. Mike Ramos (9A-1A) and Alex Caceres (4G-5A) complete Tacoma's top three scorers. The Stars have a trio of rookies seeing plenty of playing time early in the season in Eddie Na (2G-0A), Logan Jones (0G-1A), and Ismael Deluna.
Backing the Stars defense is MASL veteran Danny Waltman who brings a goals against average of 6.73 and .649 save percentage into the match.
Tacoma will face the Outlaws three more times this season, February 16 in Texas, and March 19 and 22 at the accesso ShoWare Center.
The Stars conclude their six-game road trip with two matches this week. The Stars visit the Mesquite Outlaws on Saturday and the Dallas Sidekicks on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:05 pm PST and 3:05 pm PST respectively. You can catch all the action on MASL.tv.
