
Texas Stars Sign Center Anthony Nigro to PTO

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the Dallas Stars, announced today that the club has signed center Anthony Nigro to a professional tryout contract, calling him up from the Idaho Steelheads, their ECHL affiliate.
Nigro, 23, currently leads the Steelheads and ranks second in the ECHL with 31 points (14 goals, 17 assists) in 25 games so far this season. The Woodbridge, Ontario native attended the Stars' 2013 AHL training camp on a tryout and skated in both pre-season games for Texas. Nigro was drafted by the St. Louis Blues in the sixth round (155th overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft and has played in 175 career AHL games, all with the Peoria Rivermen, recording 52 points (27 goals, 25 assists) and 69 penalty minutes. He is currently tied for second in the ECHL in goals and was named the Sher-Wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week for Oct. 21-27 when he scored six points (4 goals, 2 assists) in three games for Idaho.
The Stars begin a three-game road trip by taking on the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday, December 20th for a 7:00 p.m. face off at Cox Convention Center. Texas will return home to face the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday, December 28th with a 7:00 p.m. face off at Cedar Park Center. The December 28th home game against the Rampage is another Texas Lottery Lucky Row Night, a Coke Zero Family Four Pack Night and is the 2014 Texas Stars Calendar Giveaway night presented by The Parking Spot.
