Stars Tie Club Record with Sixth Straight Win; Texas Defeats San Antonio 4-2

CEDAR PARK, Texas - Three different Texas Stars players registered two-point games, including Travis Morin, who retook the AHL points lead with a goal and an assist, to lead the Stars to a 4-2 win over the San Antonio Rampage Wednesday night in front of 6,273 fans at Cedar Park Center. The victory was Texas' sixth consecutive, equaling a franchise record for longest winning streak.

After a physical start to the opening period, Texas took advantage of a four-minute power play as Travis Morin ripped a scorching one-timer from the right faceoff dot over the glove of goaltender Rob Madore to give the Stars a 1-0 lead. Texas extended their lead late in the period when Toby Petersen jumped on a San Antonio turnover at their own blue line and fired a wrist shot that beat Madore on the far side. Petersen's third goal of the year came with just 38 seconds left and gave the Stars a 2-0 lead.

The Stars padded their lead in the second period when the puck found its way through a scramble in front and trickled past Madore, with Francis Wathier swooping in to tap it across the goal line for the 3-0 advantage.

San Antonio came out firing in the third, which led to Garrett Wilson hammering in a rebound just 61 seconds in to put the Rampage on the board. Less than three minutes later, the visitors followed by making it a one goal game when John McFarland took a cross-ice pass from Vincent Trocheck and put a low wrister past Jack Campbell to cut the Stars' lead to 3-2. Texas stood strong from there on and Curtis McKenzie added an empty net goal to cement the 4-2 Stars win. Wathier and Morin both assisted on the goal, giving all three forwards two points on the night and pushing Morin's season total to 34 points, which moved him back into sole possession of first place in the AHL.

Jack Campbell stopped 30-of-32 shots faced and got the win for Texas, as he improved to a perfect 5-0-0 in five starts this season. Rob Madore made his San Antonio debut and finished with 28 saves on 31 shots in the losing effort. The Stars and Rampage each had 32 shots in the game. Texas went 1-for-3 on the power play, while San Antonio was 0-for-3 with the man-advantage.

The Stars begin a three-game road trip by taking on the Oklahoma City Barons on Friday, December 20th for a 7:00 p.m. face off at Cox Convention Center. Texas will return home to face the San Antonio Rampage on Saturday, December 28th with a 7:00 p.m. face off at Cedar Park Center.
