
Rangers Recall J.T. Miller from Hartford

NEW YORK, December 19, 2013 - New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that the club has recalled forward J.T. Miller from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League (AHL), while forward Arron Asham and defenseman Dylan McIlrath have been assigned to the Wolf Pack.
Miller, 20, has recorded two goals and one assist in two games with Hartford since his assignment on December 9. He currently leads the Wolf Pack with a plus-five rating, ranks second on the team with seven goals and is tied for seventh in scoring with nine points in eight AHL games this season. Miller returns to the Rangers where he has registered two points (one goal, one assist) in 17 games this season. He notched his first goal of the season on November 10 against Florida.
The East Palestine, Ohio native was originally selected by the Rangers as a first round choice, 15th overall, in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Asham, 35, has skated in six games with the Rangers this season. He returns to Hartford where he has registered two assists and 19 penalty minutes in 12 games. Asham made his debut with the Wolf Pack on October 18 against Manchester, following his assignment to Hartford on October 15. He tallied two assists in a four-game span from November 8 vs. Providence to November 16 at Bridgeport. His assist on November 8 vs. Providence was also his first career point with the Wolf Pack.
The Portage La Prairie, Manitoba native signed with the Rangers as a free agent on July 1, 2012. He was originally selected by Montreal as a third round choice, 71st overall, in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft.
McIlrath, 21, made his NHL debut on December 12 against Columbus, and has skated in two games with the Rangers this season. He returns to Hartford where he has registered three goals and four assists for seven points, along with 115 penalty minutes in 24 games. McIlrath led the AHL in penalty minutes and was tied for third in the league with nine fighting majors at the time of his recall on December 11, and is tied for second among Wolf Pack defensemen in goals.
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native was originally selected as the Rangers' first round choice, 10th overall, in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
