Texas Signs Joel L'Esperance to Amateur Tryout

CEDAR PARK, Texas - The Texas Stars, American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, announced Tuesday the team has signed rookie forward Joel L'Esperance to an amateur tryout agreement.

L'Esperance, 22, joins Texas after finishing a four-year career at Michigan Tech where he tallied 98 points (46-52=98) in 152 career games, including a 27-point campaign this past year in 42 contests (12-15=27).

The 6-foot-2, 208-pound native of Brighton, Mich. also spent two-plus seasons in the USHL between the Tri-City Storm and Sioux City Musketeers. L'Esperance (LEHS-pehr-ahns) recorded 67 points (37-30=67) in 111 career games in the USHL.

The Texas Stars are the primary development affiliate of the NHL's Dallas Stars, and currently playing their ninth season at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
