
Former Syracuse Crunch Forward Eric Neilson to Headline Crunch Classic April 14

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Former Syracuse Crunch forward and fan favorite Eric Neilson will return to Syracuse to headline the annual Crunch Classic on Saturday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Neilson will also appear at the Crunch game against the Rochester Americans at 7 p.m.
Neilson, 33, played for the Crunch from 2012 to 2015. He was named the team's IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year all three seasons for his outstanding contributions to the Syracuse community. He was also awarded the AHL's Yanick Dupre Memorial Award in 2014 for his selfless dedication to community programs in Central New York. The Fredericton, New Brunswick native skated in 482 professional games in the AHL, ECHL and EIHL during his 12-year career. Neilson now serves as an assistant coach for the St. Stephen County Aces of the MJAHL.
The Crunch Classic is an annual charity game that raises money for the Foundation for Faces of Children. The game gives participants the opportunity to play in the War Memorial Arena with members of the Crunch organization. The Crunch Classic has featured former Crunch players, coaches and support staff. Neilson will join registered participants in a 3 p.m. contest.
Prior to the April 14 game against the Americans, Neilson will participate in a ceremonial puck drop. He will then be available for autographs in Memorial Hall during the first intermission.
