Pheonix Copley Recalled by Capitals

(Hershey, PA)- The Washington Capitals have recalled goaltender Pheonix Copley from the Hershey Bears. The announcement was made by Washington's senior vice president and general manager Brian MacLellan.

Copley, 26, has appeared in 38 games this season with Hershey, collecting a 14-16-6 record with a 2.86 goals against average and a .898 save percentage. The native of North Pole, Alaska has played in 142 AHL games with Hershey and Chicago, going 72-47-15 with a 2.53 goals against average, .914 save percentage, and nine shutouts.

Copley has played in two career NHL games with St. Louis, making his NHL debut on Feb. 27, 2016 in relief at Nashville. He made his lone NHL start, a 5-2 loss at Winnipeg, on Jan. 27, 2017.

The Bears return to action on Wednesday in Bridgeport. The puck drops from the Webster Bank Arena at 7 p.m. The game may be heard on the Bears Radio Network and viewed on AHLLive.com.
