Montgomery Biscuits News Release
MONTGOMERY, AL - After the Biscuits (16-15) scored four ninth inning runs, Nate Samson hit the fourth Tennessee Smokies (15-16) homer of the night in the tenth to beat the Biscuits 9-8 Tuesday at Riverwalk.
The Biscuits entered the ninth inning down 8-4 with the Smokies having scored six unanswered runs. Henry Wrigley cranked an opposite field homer to cut it to 8-6. Cole Figueroa singled to keep the game alive, and after Smokies manager Brian Harper brought the lefty Jeff Beliveau on to face the lefty Kyeong Kang (above), Kang ripped a two-run shot on a two-strike pitch to send it to extras.
The Biscuits got off to a fortuitous start in the bottom of the tenth, with Isaias Velasquez and Shawn O'Malley hitting back-to-back singles to begin things. But Tim Beckham popped out on a bunt, and Stephen Vogt grounded into a double play to end the night.
Samson's homer came against Zach Quate (4-4). It was the fourth Smokies home run of the night, with Josh Vitters, Jim Adduci, and Ty Wright all blasting one prior.
Beliveau (5-1) wound up getting the win.
Both starters took no-decisions, with Jim Paduch allowing four runs on five hits over 5.1.
RHP Chris Archer goes for the Biscuits at 7:05 Wednesday against Tennessee RHP Dallas Beeler.
