Teddy Bear Toss Tonight against Griffins

Rockford, Ill- Following the 4-0 shutout over Midwest Division rival Milwaukee Admirals, the Rockford IceHogs (16-4-1-1) host the Grand Rapid Griffins (9-9-2-0) at the BMO Harris Bank Center Saturday. Face off is set for 7 p.m.

Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffed animal to Saturday's contest for Teddy Bear Toss Night. All plush toys can be thrown onto the ice after the IceHogs score their first goal of the game. The stuffed animals will be collected and donated to local hospitals and charities. A limited amount of stuffed animals will be available for purchase at the chuck-a-puck stations. In the event of no IceHogs goal, fans can throw their stuffed animals on the ice following the tilt with the Griffins.

Riding a four-game point streak and at least one point in 13 of his last 15 contests dating back to Oct. 31, IceHogs defenseman T.J. Brennan leads all Hogs in assists with 14 and total points (19). He ranks third in the AHL"ˆin scoring among blueliners with 19 points (5g-14a). His plus-15 rating also leads all IceHogs and is tied for third in the AHL.

Michael Leighton has appeared in 11 contests between the pipes for Rockford. Leighton enters Saturday's matchup with the Griffins with 6-3-1 record and a pair of shutouts. He picked up his 38 career AHL shutout Thursday night to take sole possession of third all-time on the list. He is three behind Gil Mayer (41) for second most and seven behind Johnny Bower who holds the all-time record of 45 career shutouts.

Grand Rapids is paced by Teemu Pulkkinen, who has 16 points (6g-10a) in nine of his last 10 games. The lone game he was held without a point during the stretch was a 4-2 setback Tuesday night in Toronto against the Marlies. Pulkkinen has 24 points (10g-15a) in 20 games played this season.

Next Home Game: Sunday, Dec. 7, vs. Lake Erie Monsters: Game starts at 4 p.m. The IceHogs celebrate Puck and Paws as they host Lake Erie. Local animal shelters will be on hand, so fans can visit pets which are up for adoption, as well as take home treats for animals back at home.
