PRINCE GEORGE, BC - Jack Sander scored twice in the second period to lead Team Black to a 5-3 win over Team White and claim the Rob Charney Cup, in the Prince George Cougars' annual instrasquad game.
Sander's two goals was part of a four-goal second period for Team Black, who led 5-2 through 40-minutes. The two teams were tied 1-1 after the first period.
Team Black also got goals from Filip Koffer, Craig Armstrong and Kyren Gronick. Cole Moberg, Connor Bowie and Johnny Herrington scored for Team White.
Tyler Brennan, Jacob Herman and Zachery Onyskiw combined for the win in net for Team Black, who outshot Team White 36-33. Isaiah DiLaura, Colton Phillips-Watts and Ty Young shared Team White's crease.
Several returning players did not dress for the game, including goaltender Taylor Gauthier, defencemen Austin Crossley and Ryan Schoettler, and forwards Ethan Browne, Jackson Leppard, and Josh Maser.
Prior to the start of the game, Tyson Upper and Jack Sander were announced as co-winners of the Mountain Lion Fitness award, which is handed out annually to the top performer from the Cougars' Training Camp fitness testing.
