Tanner Roark pitches Senators to 5-3 win

One night after allowing a five-run lead to slip away, the Harrisburg Senators bounced right back and beat Binghamton 5-3 in front of 6,825 fans at Metro Bank Park. Tanner Roark won for a second straight start pitching into the seventh inning. Roark allowed three runs on just four hits and moved to 6-7 on the season.

Tyler Moore drove in a pair with a double in the first which was followed by a run scoring double off the bat of Bryce Harper, giving the Sens a 3-0 first inning lead. Harrisburg would go on to load the bases in the first, but didn't score further. They also loaded the bases with one out in the second inning, but didn't score.

Binghamton broke through in the sixth on a two-run single off the bat of Allan Dykstra to bring the B-Mets to within 3-2 in the game.

After Tanner Roark led the bottom of the sixth off with a single, Chris Rahl followed with a two-run home run to left giving the Senators a 5-2 lead. Binghamton scored a run off Roark in the seventh inning but that was it. Pat McCoy came on with one-out in the seventh and struck out both batters he faced. Rafael Martin pitched two innings and struck out Raul Reyes with the tying run at first and two outs in the ninth for his sixth save on the season.

Rahl and Leonard Davis had three hits each for Harrisburg. It was the second straight game Davis had three hits. Tyler Moore, Bryce Harper, and Chris McConnell all had two hits for the Senators.

With the win the Senators are now 61-47 on the season while Binghamton falls to 43-65 with the loss.

The final game of the four-game series is Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. with RH Erik Davis on the mound for the Senators against RH Collin McHugh for Harrisburg.
